During cold saw cutting, unstable clamping force is one of the main sources of cutting vibration. If the clamping pressure is insufficient, the workpiece will slip and vibrate under the periodic impact of saw teeth. The relative movement between workpiece and saw blade causes tooth chipping, poor section flatness and dimensional deviation. Excessive clamping pressure will bring huge compressive stress, especially for thin-walled or brittle metal workpieces, which may lead to workpiece deformation and even cracking. The fluctuation of air or hydraulic pressure, wear of sealing elements and uneven contact of clamping jaws will cause unstable clamping pressure in actual production.
The clamping pressure control optimization is based on workpiece material, cross-section size and wall thickness to set pressure grading range. Install pressure feedback sensor on the clamping cylinder, build closed-loop pressure control system to maintain constant clamping force during the whole cutting cycle. Optimize the contact surface structure of clamping jaws, increase anti-slip texture to improve friction coefficient, so as to reduce required clamping pressure without workpiece sliding.
Add buffer control for clamping action. The jaw adopts slow approach and pressure holding mode to avoid impact force generated by sudden clamping. For long and large workpieces, auxiliary supporting mechanism is equipped to reduce the cantilever vibration, and distribute clamping points reasonably to prevent stress concentration on local area of workpiece. Check the parallelism of the movable jaw and fixed jaw regularly, and eliminate the clamping dead angle caused by jaw deflection.
Regularly inspect the clamping circuit, test pressure holding performance, replace aging seals and worn jaw pads in advance. For different batches of workpieces, carry out pre-test to confirm the pressure threshold. Avoid manual arbitrary adjustment of pressure beyond the allowable range.
After parameter optimization, carry out continuous cutting test to monitor vibration amplitude and check the condition of saw teeth and workpiece. Fine tune pressure value to achieve balance between clamping stability and workpiece protection.
Through reasonable workpiece clamping pressure control, cutting vibration is effectively suppressed, the risk of saw blade chipping is reduced, the stability of cutting process is guaranteed, and the processing yield is improved.
